DARPL Wales hosted the Enhanced Leadership Series Cohort 4 Plenary Day on 9th July at Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Cyncoed Campus, in partnership with Show Racism the Red Card Wales. The day brought together courageous and committed leaders working to embed anti-racist values into the heart of education in Wales.
The event featured inspirational contributions from DARPL Founder and Director Chantelle Haughton, Professor Charlotte Williams OBE, and Multi-Disciplinary Artist Connor Allen. The day included workshops, group feedback sessions, and thought-provoking insights. Kevin Palmer, Deputy Director of Pedagogy, Leadership and Professional Learning at Welsh Government, also attended and shared his support for the work being done.
The Enhanced Leadership Series is one of DARPL’s flagship programmes, proudly endorsed by the National Academy for Educational Leadership Cymru (NAEL). It’s designed to deepen self-reflection, build brave spaces, dismantle barriers to change, and develop anti-racist strategies that create real, lasting impact in schools and learning institutions.
Chantelle Haughton stated: “This isn’t just professional development, it’s transformational leadership where commitment to anti-racism remains at the core of leadership. We call it Gwaith Calon- the ‘heart-work’. The Enhanced Leadership Series is free to attend with an investment in time and leadership commitment. Thank you to all the inspiring leaders for driving racial equity forward.”
📢 Bookings for ELS Cohort Five are still open. The South Wales cohort starts on September 23rd, and the North Wales cohort starts later in the term. You can sign up to attend for free.
